Trading Social Media for “Slow Content”: Orienting Toward Wellness and Creativity
In a world of endless scrolling, “screen apnea” and fleeting dopamine hits, I've recently made a decision that feels both radical and perfectly natural: leaving social media behind in favor of slow content — articles and imagery that are best savored and metabolized over minutes or hours, not seconds.
I’ve taken social media hiatuses before, but upon reflection in the new year, I realized I was constantly pouring my writing and photography into the ephemeral world of Meta, a company that has been largely disappointing in the way of ethics and moral judgement. Social media was siphoning my creativity into a stream of tiny boxes, competing for a few seconds of attention.
I missed long-form writing, and I realized that this decision was not just a moral boycott or a way to reduce waste in the way of my time and energy— this was in support of my wellbeing.
As a behavior analyst, writer, and wellness entrepreneur, I've spent nearly a decade studying how technology shapes our behavior, attention and identity. This year, I'm putting that knowledge into practice by creating a space where ideas can breathe and conversations can deepen in a digital space of my own making, without the algorithms.
Why I'm Making This Change
As someone who values depth over breadth, meaningful connections over casual likes, and thoughtful discourse over quick takes, this shift feels inevitable. Social media's rapid-fire nature often reduces complex ideas to oversimplified soundbites, leaving little room for nuance or deeper exploration.
Here's what you'll find instead: integrative psychiatry and mental health insights, research and practice in psychedelic-assisted therapy and other EXPANDED services, and personal reflections that provide the best benefits with your full attention—perhaps over an entire cup of coffee (or two). No notifications, no endless scrolling, just carefully crafted content meant to be savored, learned and metabolized.

Beyond the Short-term Scroll
While social media platforms excel at creating instant feedback loops through likes and comments, they often fail to foster genuine engagement with ideas. My goal isn't to accumulate digital approval stamps, but to build a community of readers and clients who are truly interested in absorbing these topics for their own wellbeing. Impact is not measured by clicks or shares, but by the quality of connections and conversations we create together. Whether you're here to learn, grow, or heal, you'll find content that challenges, inspires, and provides practical value.
